"Abkhazia" covers the period between 1993 and 2011 and describes the reality after two turning points - the collapse of the Soviet Union and the Abkhazian-Georgian war, a reality to which, in addition to post-Soviet chaos, added difficulties related to the unrecognized status of these territories. In order to better convey the essence of the processes, the reporter makes historical excursions that reveal the antiquity of the Abkhazian-Georgian and Abkhazian-Russian conflicts, as well as essays trying to convey the peculiarities of the region with its separate code of honor, pagan religion, ethnic divisions. The text is based on direct authorial experience and sometimes reflects everyday household trifles, which, however, reveal broader contexts. The heroes of the report were the top leaders of the unrecognized republic, on whose ambitions and decisions the lives of a small thousand people depended, as well as ordinary militants, border guards, mixed families who had to flee the war, and casual passers-by. The quoted local proverbs, mystical legends and gossips add relief to the text.
