The word "aznabia" is used in Arab countries for foreigners. The action of Marina Hrymych's novel takes place in modern Lebanon, known for its interfaith diversity, and resonates with medieval Arabic tales from The Thousand and One Nights. In the center of the plot are two Ukrainian ajnabi - Pavlina, married to Sunni Ahmad, and Vira (gently - Virunchyk), the wife of Shiite Zhavvad. Pavlina sets out to help Zhavvad get along with his wife, but she suddenly disappears, and in search of the Believer Ahmad, Zhavvad, Pavlina, as well as the mysterious duruz Ziyad, who suddenly joined the company, travel around Lebanon in a red car. The book is full of delicate humor, which helps to present the specifics of interethnic marriages in the Middle East and reveal the secrets of interfaith and intercultural understanding.
