For the first time, the Ukrainian reader is offered a translation from Sanskrit directly from the Bhagavad Gita, one of the most famous sacred books of Hinduism. For centuries, Indians turned to her in search of answers to the secret questions of life, she inspired Indian patriots to fight for the independence of the Motherland. Outside of India, Bhagavad Gita was admired by prominent philosophers, poets, writers and scholars. In Ukraine, the philosopher and theologian Orest Novitsky wrote about the Bhagavad Gita as early as 1844; Lesya Ukrainka also quoted this book. However, in the 1930s, the NKVD inflicted a devastating blow on indology in Ukraine, the consequences of which should be facilitated, in particular, by this translation.
The publication is intended for a wide range of readers. The translation is accompanied by an explanatory article and appendices.
