The book presents the theoretical work of Deborah Vogel (1900-1942), an iconic figure for Ukraine. In her essays written in Polish and Yiddish, the author talks about the process of working on the poetry collections "Figures of the Days", "Mannequins" and a collection of prose montages "Acacias Bloom", both of which were published in Ukrainian by Dukh i Litera. Yurka Prokhaska. In addition to literary issues, Vogel's articles show the author's deep erudition in art, philosophy and psychology. Deborah Vogel's letters from Lviv to Yiddish-speaking intellectuals in Australia, Stockholm, and New York expand their understanding of European and American modernism and the literary process in general. This more complete collection of Vogel's works contributes to the full-fledged Ukrainian reception of the author and also to the rethinking of Ukrainian culture (including literary studies and art history) through the extraordinary optics of Deborah Vogel.
