The first of a series of books about Bulkal by the modern Norwegian writer Rune Belsvik was published in Norway almost 27 years ago, and so far the popularity of all six stories about the country's little inhabitants by the river is only growing. Norwegian children's reading experts have included Bulkala in the list of "25 best books for children" - along with "Moomin-trolls" and "Winnie the Pooh".
creatures - good-natured Bulkalo, reliable Fox Baker, restless Octave, grumbling Pundyk, filthy Zagrebayko. Their daily lives are leisurely and cozy - the heroes quarrel and reconcile, rejoice in the holidays, bake cakes, adore puddings, dry wet shoes and throw stones into the river. However, the simplest things are full of special meaning, because the heroes of the book are able to rejoice and please others so much that it is impossible to remain indifferent.
