They synthesize the genres of travel essays and political diaries, as well as actively comprehend the events of Ukraine's past and present. The first book of diaries covers the culmination of the struggle for the Ukrainian state. It contains a huge layer of historical material concerning the biography of the author and the fate of Ukraine, its leading figures and writers. In the second book, its structural core is a description of the author's travels during his life. These journeys from history are turned into modern, filled with journalistic material, are the basis for meditations, reflections and generalizations about the fate of Ukraine, Ukrainian national character, the struggle of our people for their freedom, culminating in the creation of their own state. The diaries are the result of R. Ivanychuk's work and contain his many years of documentary reproduction of the epoch.
