Virgil (70-19 BC) was a poet of ancient Rome, the author of the famous Aeneid, which glorifies the legendary origins of the Roman people. Virgil's poem is related to the Homeric epic and was created with a focus on it. In the first six songs she imitates the Odyssey (this tells of Aeneas' travels from Troy to Italy), in the next six - the Iliad (this is about the war and the founding of Rome). Virgil's poem is distinguished by high artistic qualities, which gave it an exceptional place in the history of European literature.
