Turning the pages of the cultural history of Odessa in the twentieth century, the author of the book analyzes the frontier identity that has developed in this unique city. The first part of the work analyzes the general processes that determined the cultural face of Odessa, the second part presents portraits of prominent artists - Vladimir Jabotinsky, Peter Leshchenko, Mikhail Zhuk, Boris Necherda, Boris Kherson. Each of them in his own way embodied the image of the seaside city in its changing identity and unchanging charm. And if these figures are forgotten today, we have a good opportunity to get to know and appreciate them more deeply, at the same time rethinking the phenomenon of Odessa in the twentieth century.
