The proposed textbook introduces the reader to the most important works of European medieval literature. Many of the texts presented in it are published for the first time, in particular a whole layer of literature written in Old Icelandic, Old Norwegian, Old English, Latin and other ancient languages. Special mention should be made of the extremely diverse genre palette of this "medieval florilegium", where Latin religious hymns or Gaelic prayers coexist with the not-so-pious poetry of the vagrants, runic poems with French fables, and heroic saguises with the rogue muse. We hope that this elegant and well-illustrated edition will be an event for all connoisseurs of literary antiquities.
