"Kyiv 1917-1920" is a fundamental study devoted to one of the most difficult periods of Kyiv's existence as an independent city with a centuries-old history and as the future capital of Ukraine. This book is not a scientific monograph in the narrow sense of the word, but at the same time it is absolutely documentary. One hundred years is more than enough for none of the witnesses to survive; we can now rely only on recorded evidence of one kind or another. But there are so many events and testimonies that the story is divided into four volumes. This is not just about events, but largely about conflicts. It was not the main goal to remind us that what happens when people do not know how to negotiate, but the story inevitably turned out to be the same. From January 1918, from the time the city received news of the fall of the monarchy to the first arrival of the Bolsheviks. Immersed in this turbulent period in the history of Kiev, you are forced to notice how planned, and sometimes even random events are amazingly lined up in a bizarre puzzle, which we now call History.
