A book by popular Bosnian writer Muharem Bazdul tells the story of a cult concert by U2 on September 23, 1997 at a stadium in Sarajevo, which drew 45,000 people. The city was still in ruins after several years of siege, and the country remained ravaged after a terrible civil war. And it was this concert that became a symbol of Bosnia's return to a normal, peaceful life. For the first time, U2 was attended by Orthodox, Catholics and Muslims, who until recently were participants and victims of the fratricidal war.
International news agencies wrote: "In these two magical hours, U2 has done what the military, politicians and diplomats have not been able to do: it has united Bosnia." U2.
