Petro Kraliuk (born 1958) - Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, First Vice-Rector of the National University "Ostroh Academy". He is the author of numerous works on the history of Ukrainian culture, including its philosophical thought. He created his own concept of the history of Ukrainian philosophy, which differs from the generally accepted one. He is also known for his historical journalism on the pages of The Day, the Mirror of the Week and the website of Radio Liberty. He is the author of a number of novels and short stories ("Six Days", "Knight and Death", "Dioptra", "Discovery of Paradise"), where he gives a somewhat unusual view of the role of elite and Cossacks in the history of Ukraine.

The book "Cossack Mythology of Ukraine: Creators and Epigones" examines the phenomenon of the Ukrainian Cossacks, its evolution, shows how mythical ideas about the Cossacks were formed, starting from the end of the XVI century and ending today. Considerable attention is paid to the Cossack mythology of the Hetmanate. It is also shown how the "Cossack idea" was interpreted in various national projects of the XIX century (Russian, Polish and Ukrainian), which it underwent modifications in the twentieth century. The publication is designed primarily for those who are interested in the Ukrainian Cossacks, its history and culture.
