The monograph examines the seals of the Hetmanate and related emblems, signs and symbols. Sfragis were an obligatory element of the social life of the Cossack state. However, all their diversity remains unexplored, and this prevents us from painting a full picture of the socio-political life of the Hetmanate - one of the historical forms of Ukrainian statehood. The study traces the history of sphragistic monuments of the Hetmanate from state to corporate and personal, establishes their general and distinctive features, analyzes the main socio-political patterns of functioning of the seals of the Cossack era and describes them as a special kind of monuments of material culture .
