This book has been translated into almost thirty languages. He was awarded the European Prize for Literature for Children and Youth (1985), the German Prize for Children and Youth Literature (1988) and the Flag and Pennant Prize (Netherlands, 1988). In 1992, a cartoon of the same name was released in Sweden, which was a great success.
