The book contains a body of mutual correspondence between Yevhen Chykalenko (1861−1929) and Serhiy Yefremov (1876−1939) - Ukrainian socio-political and cultural figures of the nation-building and liberation revolution of 1917−1921. Sources collected in various archives of Ukraine and UVAN in the USA they cover the period 1903−1928. They reflect the participation of the authors of the letters in the events of the day: the founding of periodicals, publishing Ch. S. Efremov's participation in the revolutionary process of 1917, correspondents' views and comprehension of important moments of the historical past. The sources also provide biographical facts and prosopographic information that will help readers learn more about the inner world of celebrities, their human virtues and reflections, relationships that have lasted for many years. Letters from the 1920s are a source of information about the life of E. Chikalenko in exile and S. Efremov in Soviet Ukraine, about their assessments of historical events.
