Yuri Vynnychuk's local history research this time concerns the history of spirits in the world, in Ukraine and in Galicia in particular. It consists of 7 sections: "Journey in 40 degrees", "Gorilitsa-durilitsa", "Society Mochimordia", "As in Lviv drank tsmagu", "Drink in Russian", "Intoxicating world of strong drinks", "History of balms" ». Drunken traditions and drunken societies are described, in particular the well-known "Urine Society", which included very interesting personalities. Taras Shevchenko was friends with some of the carefree, but at the same time interesting, educated, often progressive in political views "mochimord". Sometimes he himself joined the merry company.
The book also describes the traditions of the Ukrainian Cossacks, Cossacks, concerning the consumption of alcohol and the restrictions imposed on it. Conversely, the section with the eloquent title "Drink in Russian" shows how different the relevant traditions of our northern neighbor, where black drunkenness has always been the norm and the main cause of poor management.
