In 1952, the first book by the then little-known Jewish German-speaking poet from Chernivtsi Paul Celan "Poppy and Memory" was published. It will later be considered a symbol of "post-Auschwitz poetry", and German lyricist Karl Krolov will claim that it "changed" the idea of the structure, subject matter, essence of the poem for many years to come.
