The publication includes materials covering the dramatic history of the persecution of the outstanding poet, translator, and public figure Maxim Rylsky (1895-1964). In the 1920s, his involvement in the neoclassical group provoked sharp attacks from official critics, culminating in Rylsky's arrest in 1931. In October 1947 he was again subjected to ruthless and unjust criticism, open political persecution by writers and party figures for "bourgeois-nationalist bias, lack of Bolshevik ideology." The spirit of those times lives on in articles, archives, poetry, memoirs, , resolutions included in this collection as a reminder of the brutal lessons of totalitarianism of the twentieth century.
