Cardinal Tomasz Spidlik is a well-known patrologist and researcher of Eastern Christian spirituality, a professor of patrology at various universities in Rome and around the world, and the author of numerous works that affirm the close connection between theology and the Christian life. In the proposed book, the author considers one of the most important and controversial theological topics - eschatology, the doctrine of "last things" or "the end of the world": death, world resurrection, judgment and the final fate of man and the universe. A careful analysis of the views of various theologians, with special emphasis on Slavic thinkers, ends with the balanced conclusions of Father Tomasz in the direction of Christological interpretation of these topics. The author, who is well acquainted with Christian art, abundantly illustrates his thoughts by interpreting icons, mainly of the Eastern Church. Undoubtedly, Father Tomasz's profound thought, traditional and strikingly modern, taking into account all the major theological teachings of the past and present, will interest a wide range of readers and will be useful to students of theological schools and all who are interested in modern Christianity.
