The collection includes 15 stories of the winners of the competition of maritime prose. Lysyansky "Matelot", selected by a jury of professional sailors. These are a variety of stories and essays from fictional and bizarre to almost documentary, about fishermen, merchant and military sailors, yachtsmen and rivermen, who make us remember that, despite Ukraine's somewhat dry reputation, every twentieth sailor in the world is Ukrainian. In the world shipping market, seafarers from Ukraine rank fourth after China, Indonesia and the Philippines, and number about 200,000 sailors, some 80,000 of whom are crew members: captains, navigators, mechanics and other ship specialists. Of course, this needs to be reflected and represented in the literature, which, we hope, will help the publication of this collection and the next seasons of the competition "Matelot".
