Long-lived monarchs

The history of monarchies on all continents is full of conspiracies, coups and assassinations. Therefore, most crowned rulers failed to hold the scepter in their hands long enough to be called long-lived monarchs. But there are no rules without exceptions: among the most famous rulers of the past and present are those who have decided the fate of their peoples for many decades. Among them are King Louis XIV of France, Queen Victoria and Elizabeth II of England, Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria-Hungary and some others. And, of course, their rule hides many secrets and mysteries.
