The book is devoted to the military traditions of the ancient Greek colonies of southern modern Ukraine: the polis communities of Tire, Olbia of Pontus, Chersonesos and the Bosporus Kingdom for more than a millennium of their history from the dawn to dusk of ancient civilization in northern Pontus. The military-political aspects of the history of the Hellenic states of the North Black Sea, the evolution of various types of offensive and defensive weapons, the problem of external influences and borrowings, certain "types of troops" of the ancient armies of the Northern Black Sea are considered. The most important military campaigns of the North Pontic Greeks are described, the evidence of which has survived to our time.
