The instructions for the kit recommend the help of adults in the stage of creating crystals. Precautions are taken regarding the handling of dye and powder for crystals.
How to make
Take 200 ml of hot water and pour into a mixing bowl. Add the contents of a large packet (crystal mixture) to the water. Stir until all the powder has dissolved.
Take a small bag of red dye. Add the dye to the solution with a clean dry spoon. Mix well. Wait 15 minutes until the solution has cooled in the bowl to about 40 degrees. To obtain not a red crystal, but in shades of pink, the instructions give different proportions of dye.
Pour the solution into a mixing bowl, which will be used to grow crystals. Temperature above 20 degrees Celsius is required for proper crystal growth. The crystal will grow in 5 days, but due to low temperatures it can happen in a month.
Pour out the remnants of the solution after the process of growing the crystal. Remove it gently from the bowl with a spoon.
Rinse the crystal with fresh water for a few seconds. Do not wash the crystal for too long, otherwise it will dissolve in water. Allow the crystal to dry on a dry cloth.
When the crystal is completely dry, place it on the base and cover with a transparent lid to protect from moist air.
Carefully place the unicorn figures and flowers under the dome with duct tape. Stick the stickers on the transparent lid.
How it works
When you add a crystalline compound to hot water, it breaks up into tiny particles in the water. These particles are too small to see them.
A liquid is called a powder solution or a saturated solution. Because if you add more powder, it will not dissolve. The water evaporates slowly, and the particles remain and combine. Crystals with straight edges and flat faces are produced.
