Lev Matsievych (1877–1910) is a bright, but, unfortunately, still forgotten figure in Ukrainian history. He was one of the first pilots of the Russian Empire, designed submarines, worked on the aircraft carrier project. He was also a great patriot, one of the co-founders of the Revolutionary Ukrainian Party (RUP). Among his comrades and acquaintances - M. Vorony, M. Mikhnovsky, S. Petliura, O. Oles, M. Kotsyubynsky and dozens of others from the constellation of Ukrainian intellectuals of the early twentieth century. The proposed book is an attempt to reveal to the reader this extraordinary personality. The publication contains: a translation of the Collection of Memory of LM Matsievich, published in 1912 in St. Petersburg, later memoirs of people who knew L. Matsievich personally, L. Matsievich's letters to M. Kotsyubynsky and M. Hrushevsky and a selection of photographs , most of which are published for the first time.
