The second book by reporter Elizaveta Honcharova is about the search for freedom, or more precisely, the search for a way out of captivity for very different people in difficult life circumstances. All events take place here in eastern Ukraine, where the country has the largest number of prisons and orphanages. And in the last few years, other areas of detention have been added to this: settlements located on the front line and illegal places of detention in the occupied territories. The heroes of the reports are eager for freedom because they lack it: some are deprived of the opportunity to move freely in space, some have lived in captivity since childhood, some have returned from captivity physically but emotionally and are still there. And for some the concept of freedom is very simple and unpretentious: to be free means to stay alive.
