Ivan Bagryany (1906-1963) was a writer whose creative work reached his compatriots only many years after his death. Repressed in 1932, exiled to the Far East, he escaped, was arrested again, and emigrated to Germany. An important phenomenon in Ukrainian literature is his novel "Man Runs Over the Abyss" and the novel "Circle of Fire", which takes place during the Second World War. The main characters of these works are ordinary Ukrainians who are trying to fight against the world of violence represented by two totalitarian systems - the Soviet and the Nazi. In 1992, the writer was posthumously awarded the National Prize. TG Shevchenko.
