Philip Orlick

Pylyp Stepanovych Orlyk (1672-1742) was a military and political figure, diplomat, hetman of Ukraine in exile, an ally of I. Mazepa and the successor of his cause in the struggle for state sovereignty of the Hetmanate. He became a symbol of indomitability and the struggle for the will of his people. It is unlikely that any national cause had such an educated, talented and loyal representative as Philip Orlyk. The activity of the hetman is undoubtedly one of the most important pages in the state and military history of Ukraine.
