Ukrainian folk tale "Turnip" translated by Ivan Franko has now found a creative and illustrative embodiment in the project of the art studio "Agrafka" (Romana Romanyshyn and Andriy Lesiv, Lviv) and in a new way draws readers' attention to all the good from childhood famous work. Even those who know the text of the fairy tale by heart, it is difficult to resist the temptation to lift the case in which the "Turnip" is carefully "dressed", and so I want, page by page, to join the hard work - pulling a turnip! The text of the book, originally printed in etymological spelling, is transliterated with modern Ukrainian graphics while preserving all the linguistic features of the original. According to modern spelling, only punctuation and spelling of words together, separately and through a hyphen are regulated. The publication also provides a dictionary of archaisms, which facilitates the perception of the tale by young readers. A kaleidoscope of colorful illustrations, a successful combination of book design with its content will make the publication not only interesting and informative for young readers, but also the decoration of every home. "Turnip", having just appeared on the shelves of bookstores, has already won the Children's Book Award "Lion-2012" - for best art project. And in 2013, "Turnip" was included in the prestigious annual catalog of the best children's publications in the world "White Ravens" ("White Ravens"), which includes 250 best children's books from over 40 countries and is considered one of the key landmarks in the world of children's and adolescent literature , not only presenting the best publications, but also identifying the dominant trends for publishers, critics, booksellers - and, of course, for young readers and their parents. The book was included in the rating of "10 Ukrainian children's books that the whole world knows about."
