Mykhailo Ivchenko's creative work (1890–1939) belongs to the little-studied pages of modern literary criticism, as his works have not been republished for almost sixty years. In 1919 the first collection of short stories by the writer "Spring Noises" was published. After the publication in 1929 of the novel The Workforce and the infamous IED process, he was deprived of the opportunity to engage in literary work. The protagonist of the work, Ukrainian intellectual Professor Savlutinsky, fully participates in the creation of a new era, while remaining spiritually independent of any ideological pressure. The deepening of his views on the development of society, nation, and man is the result of constant reflection, discussion, and internal struggle.
