"A Novel about a Good Man" was written in 1964 - 1968. Action it takes place in the Ukrainian camp for displaced persons in Mittenwald (Germany). As the title of the novel suggests, its main theme is good. Based on the opposition of good and evil, the author differentiates his characters into good and evil. She proves that you can be a good person, even with ordinary human defects. Yes, not ideal, but good characters in the novel are Father Gudziy and Stetsko Stupalka, who love to drink, and the other hero - the thief Dmitry - noble in the depths of his character and gradually experiencing the transformation into a good man…
E. Andievskaya's evil represents imperial influence on Ukraine. She strongly condemns the oppression of the Ukrainian language and culture, the assimilation of Ukrainians, and the rejection of the national identity of Ukrainians by the international community at the time.
