Ruta Tannenbaum

Ruta Tannenbaum (2006) is Milenko Ergović's most famous novel, for which he received the Mesha Selimovich Literary Prize. The events take place in the provincial multinational Croatian town of Zagreb (Yugoslavia) between the two world wars. The prototype of the main character - Ruth Tannenbaum - was a talented girl Leah Deutsch, killed during the Holocaust.
