Dacianus' "Seven Cavemen" is a Muslim version of the Christian legend of the "seven sleeping boys of Ephesus", spread in the Middle East before the establishment of Islam. The 18th surah of the Qur'an "Ashab al-Qagf" ("Friends of the Cave", or "Comrades-Cavemen") is completely dedicated to the seven cavers, where their history is sporadically told. The Christian legend consecrated by the Qur'an has become very popular throughout the Muslim world. There are many legends in folk literature, which in the spirit of narrative tradition comment on the Qur'anic story. Dacianus' proposed "Seven Cavemen" is one of the Persian versions of the Koranic story, written in the genre of so-called post-Koranic legends. The publication is addressed to readers of middle and high school age.
