It covers the reign of fifty legendary Shahs of Iran and is divided into mythological, heroic and historical parts. The poet skillfully combined folk tales and historical evidence from many sources. In addition to interesting plots, the poem introduces the modern reader to the basics of the Zoroastrian religious worldview, which is based on the struggle of light and dark forces, good and evil, ideals of high morals and justice.
Translated by Agatangel Krymsky and Vasyl Mysyk. They show a gradual transition from the mythological to the heroic part of the work, associated primarily with the image of Rustam as the embodiment of chivalrous courage and justice, the main exploits of which will be discussed in future books.
