"The Young King", "The Fisherman and His Soul", "The Selfish Giant", "Star Boy" are reminiscent of biblical parables. Almost all of Wilde's works are imbued with reflections on the relationship between good, benefit and beauty. The author, based on a humanistic understanding of human nature, offers his solution to moral problems such as life and death, good and evil.
The endings of fairy tales are usually pessimistic. Nevertheless, along with ridiculing the vices of an unjust world, Wilde's tales contain a passionate preaching of goodness, compassion, and beauty.
