The book continues to publish E. Chikalenko's diary of the emigration period. The publication includes records from 1921, which reflect the personal reflections of the figure on important historical events, another of his attempts to join the active political life. The author continues to follow closely the events that took place in Ukraine, in particular the growth of anti-Bolshevik sentiments, the development of the insurgent movement, the policy of Soviet leaders towards Ukraine. In 1921, E. Chykalenko continued, mainly by correspondence, to communicate with well-known Ukrainian politicians, public and cultural figures: V. Vyshyvany, V. Koroliv-Stary, D. Doroshenko, M. Slavynsky, P. Chyzhevsky, E. Lukasevych, V. Pisnyachevsky, E. Vyrov, M. Sadovsky, M. Kos, D. Gregolinsky and others. The author included letters from them in his own records in order to expand their information content or to detail important facts. The diary also included valuable materials from periodicals in various fields that came to E. Chikalenko's attention and attracted his attention with unusual views, novelty of facts and immediacy of observations. The book is intended for scholars, teachers, students and readers who are interested in the dramatic history of Ukraine in the early 1920s, the fate of the first wave of Ukrainian emigration and its leaders.
