The well-known classic of Polish literature, Tadeusz Dolenga-Mostowicz (1898-1939), is the author of sixteen novels, eight of which have been screened. Among them - "The Sorcerer", "Three Hearts", "Career of Nicodemus Dysma" and "Diary of Mrs. Hanka" - the last work of the writer, which was published on the eve of Hitler's German invasion of Poland in 1939.
Mrs. Hanka, a Polish aristocrat and beauty, the wife of a diplomat, an elegant woman of the upper world of pre-war Poland, accidentally learns from a letter addressed to her husband that he is a twin and a traitor. This is the beginning of her own investigation, which is accompanied by experiences and fantasies, conspiracies and gossip, love affairs and espionage intrigues, which Ms. Ganka candidly describes in her diary. In the novel, the author depicts the characteristic features of a time when the higher world was confident in the future, and some personal troubles seemed like the height of misfortune.
