Historical and philological heritage of Vasyl Simovych (1880-1944) & ndash; outstanding Ukrainian scientist-philologist, cultural and public figure, graduate of Chernivtsi University, a full member of the Scientific Society. Shevchenko from & nbsp; 1923 & nbsp; & ndash; is an extremely important source for studying the history of Ukrainian linguistics, literature, publishing, national and cultural revival of Ukrainians in Bukovina, Galicia, Dnieper region of the late & nbsp; XIX & ndash; early twentieth century, the history of liberation struggles, the life of Ukrainian emigration in Czechoslovakia.
The first volume of Professor Vasyl Simovych & nbsp; contains linguistic articles and excerpts from monographs written in & nbsp; different periods of the scientist's life and & nbsp; still remained little known to the wider intelligentsia of the Ukrainian community. V. Simovych entered the history of Ukrainian linguistics primarily as the author of the "Practical Grammar of the Ukrainian Language", published in 1918 in the town of Rastatt (Germany). The second edition of it appeared in 1921. in & nbsp; Berlin, in & nbsp; & laquo; Ukrainian Invoice & raquo; Jacob Orenstein under the title & quot; Grammar of the Ukrainian language for self - study and & nbsp; assistance to school science & raquo; and & nbsp; was at one time the most complete and authoritative Ukrainian grammar, which had a very significant impact on the norms of literary language.
Extremely valuable linguistic heritage V. Simovich left as the author of thorough articles on & nbsp; grammar, history of literary language and spelling, history of linguistics. He & nbsp; & mdash; one of & nbsp; the first researchers of the language of T. Shevchenko, P. Kulish, Y. Fedkovych. Observations on the culture of daily speech of various segments of Ukrainian society, documented by V. Simovych in the form of occasional rector's notes, short essays, give a unique linguistic slice of the day, which has not lost its cognitive and prognostic value for modern linguists.
