The first volume of the two-volume edition of "Memoirs of Lesya Ukrainka" is based on the principle of family hierarchy - a non-standard and first-time approach in domestic memoirs. This is a kind of compilation of the family archive, which not only presents a living image of the writer, but also tells the story of the great and glorious family of Drahomanov-Kosach in its traditions, spiritual values passed down from generation to generation. The family compendium of materials, judgments and impressions shows the poet's personality - holistic, attractive, presented in the living historical context of socio-political, cultural life of Ukraine, seen and depicted in various situations and from different angles - through the prism of her family and friends. Among those whose voices are heard in the book are Lesya Ukrainka's mother Olga Kosach (Olena Pchilka), sisters Olga Kosach-Kryvyniuk, Izidora Kosach-Borysova, Oksana Kosach-Szymanovska, husband Kliment Kvitka, brother and sisters of others - Svitozar Drahomanov, Lydia Drahomanova-Shishmanova, Ariadna Trush, Oksana Dragomanova, brother Natalia Kosach, niece Yevhenia Kosach-Milska, daughter of the third sister Olena Sadovska, pupil of the named parents of K. Kvitka Maria Sobinevska-Beshkurova. The main emphasis is on the publication of little-known or published for the first time in full (without gaps) memories of Lesya Ukrainka. The book presents unique photographs from the funds of the Museum of Outstanding Figures of Ukrainian Culture, the Institute of Literature. Taras Shevchenko NASU and from private collections.
