Volodymyr Malik (real name - Sychenko, 1921-1998) is a well-known Ukrainian writer who gained fame as the author of historical and adventure novels (tetralogy "The Secret Ambassador", "Prince Kyi", "Red Shields", etc.). His works are placed next to the works of Alexandre Dumas and Henrik Senkevich. In 1983, for his achievements in the field of literature V. Malik was awarded the prize. Lesya Ukrainka. The tetralogy "The Secret Ambassador" tells about the struggle of the Ukrainian people against the Turkish-Tatar invaders in the second half of the seventeenth century, the tragic events in Ukraine after the Chyhyryn campaigns and the defense of Vienna (summer 1683).
