The book is devoted to the study of the history of the Great Turkic Khaganate - the first state of the ancient Turks, which emerged in the middle of the VI century. as a result of the unification of many Turkic-speaking tribes. The world first learned about this state in the Southern Altai from the written testimony of the Byzantine writer Menander Protector. In his work, he described in detail the embassy from the Khaganate to Byzantium, during which the Romans learned about the existence of a new northern state. Written mentions of the trip of Byzantine ambassadors to the pond of the Turkic kagan became very valuable and informative. In addition to information about the state system, life, customs, lifestyles, beliefs and traditions of the ancient Turks, the Western world in the early Middle Ages learned about the great powerful nomadic empire, which played a significant role in international trade and political life.
