Joseph Conrad (1857–1924, real name - Theodore Joseph Conrad Korzhenozsky) was born in Berdychiv, former Podolsk province. A Pole by birth, he was recognized as a classic of English literature. Author of fascinating novels about sea adventures.
The novel "Liberation" is the largest and best of Conrad's novels, on which he worked for almost twenty years. In it, he tells of the hard life of the Indonesian people, who are waging a fierce struggle against the colonizers.
