"With the Archangel on the Shields А." by A. Kovalev is a historical study of the still unexplored volunteer formation of the Liberation War of 1917-1921 - Vasylkiv Basket of the Free Cossacks - and his military career in Kyiv region. At the center of the revolutionary events is the Boyarka station and the station village of Budaivka. The author reconstructed the events of the First Ukrainian Liberation Struggle at Boyarka Station and its environs, which remained little known due to the domination of Soviet myth. The biographical guide, compiled on the basis of unpublished archival sources, contains information about the figures of the First Russian-Ukrainian War from December 1917 to March 1918, from ordinary Cossacks of the Vasylkiv Basket of the Free Cossacks to the General Cornet of the UPR Army. The exposition is complemented by the memoirs of participants in the liberation struggle that took place in Kyiv region: Ivan Goremyka-Krupchynsky, Vsevolod Petriv, Mark Shlyakhovy.
