"The life of Ishmael Ferik Pasha. A Thorn in the Heart ”is a real-life historical postmodern best-selling novel by the eminent Greek writer Ray Galanaki, an archaeologist-historian by education. The protagonist of the work was the great warrior Ishmael, who for his achievements in the fight against Christianity at a very early age was awarded the title of Ferika Pasha (the title of the first dignitaries in Turkey, corresponding to our divisional general). However, he was born a Christian, and came to Muslim Egypt at the age of 9 from Crete. Participating in the attack on his native land and suppressing the Cretan Revolution, which, ironically, was financed by Ishmael's brother, because his soul became a training ground for powerful Greek and Ottoman cultural opponents. The Life of Ishmael Ferik Pasha has won numerous literary awards, has been translated into many languages, and has been included in the UNESCO collection of representative works (1994) by UNESCO.
